Bacalhau community projects in Q4'22
An overview of the different Bacalhau community projects in Q4'22
Bacalhau is a decentralized, public, open network of compute resources. Anyone can join the network to offer their resources (Compute Providers), and users can request to run their computation jobs on the network (Compute Requesters).
In this article, we'd like to highlight some of the most notable community projects their creators have informed us about in Q4.
At ETHBogota, Josh Klopfenstein built the Goldberg calculator — the world’s first decentralized calculator that uses the Bacalhau network to sum two numbers! The user enters two numbers via the web app, and it sends a job to Bacalhau that adds the two numbers. The authors acknowledge that possible improvements can be made :)
At the Chainlink hackathon, Wilman and his team created a hypertally project that analyzes satellite data to assess the quality of nature-based carbon credits. Their solution lets geo-referenced carbon projects use Chainlink oracles, IPFS NFT Storage, and Bacalhau as the main technologies for on-chain validation, monitoring, data analysis, and computer vision analysis on the blockchain.
Wilman also wrote a self-explanatory tutorial about using Bacalhau and OpenCV — do check it out!
The second place at the Chainlink hackathon went to the fantastic Wiki-IPFS project by Antonio and Federico. Wiki-IPFS is an on-chain IPFS file search solution.
Also, Rudolf and Natalia built a HoneyBee loan—a DeFi lending protocol for NFTs using chainlink oracles where users can deposit NFTs as collateral to borrow ERC20 tokens.
At the ETHLisbon hackathon, firstly, Rickk and Fabrizio made an IPFS video checker that uses AI to identify NSFW content and marks it appropriately.
Also, at ETHLisbon, Clement Juventin and his team made a SafeChecker where users can check the history of a smart contract to ensure it is safe to use.
The authors added the ability to simulate a call to the smart contract. Paula Carneiro and the team created Matusalem, a closed pension fund on Ethereum with transparent risk analysis and modeling, that enables users to participate directly in pension governance.
Vedant’s work on the Bacalhau and Open AI Whisper example was invaluable in inspiring Favour to write a comprehensive tutorial on Medium, which is a great resource for anyone looking to get started with Bacalhau.
If you have built a project on Bacalhau and your work is not mentioned here, please contact the Developer Relations team.
